Changing Your Work System: Some Valuable Tips
A number of work systems may look lucrative in theory but are not much productive in actual. It is just the same as you buy an expensive item but eventually find out that it does not works as promised. Similarly any failure in our work system is a problem, consecutively you have to repeat the entire task or guess the decision. You find yourself in a tough situation where you are not prepared for just about anything. Before you complaint regarding your work, you need to understand that anyone in a supervisory role is capable of changing things, all you need is the right skills.
Everyone is bothered about managing the aims, budget and time of the company, whereas other important and actual issues are not given much value. One such important issue is managing your boss. A system works on a certain goal and yours is to deliver according to the expectations of your superior. You have a clarity regarding their likings which is based on the demands of the upper management, so you must keep a vigil on them.
It is usual that an excellent manager is a good monitor. Once you have a firm control over your stress triggers, you are completely in command. You just have to divert the limited resources in a direction, which fulfils the demands of everyone without overburdening yourself. It is imperative that a real workable system, must take into consideration the actual labor force and it includes you too.
Since, you are not yet the top authority, you have to grasp the reality that someone else will make the final decision. Even worst condition is that you have to survive and create a system that has no real facts. The easiest solution to the problem is to enhance the working skills of your team. This may call for delegating work at your end; in this case remember to match talent of the person and the specific task.
Most important is to motivate your colleagues and subordinates, it is imperative to scrutinize the environment also, not just the goals. Excellent working systems fortify the morale of the employees but it dampens if people understand that company does not values loyalty and talent. Most rational attitude that you can adopt is to invest on training, display credit and admiration wherever required.
When things go wrong, the instantaneous response is to take counteractive measures or to change the system entirely. However a new addition would require extra time and people, the best possible approach is to retrace and give a second thought to the corrective measures to enhance development.
Good systems are self sufficient but if you still are keeping a vigil on the system, then you end up overtaxing yourself and also increase the risk of blame. To obtain the best from your workforce, the person responsible for the assignment must be given the freedom to take decisions related to the delivery and made accountable for the mistakes. They should also be credited for the success.
Invest some time in training as this is one factor that makes organizations work. Ensure collaboration of everyone concerned and track whether the problems are addressed or not. Tell everyone about your idea, so that they are motivated to achieve the goals of the team.
