Job Stress Management: What Happens When Job Stress Is Not Managed

Work and the work place had been considered by most people as the root cause of stress. Employees who consider their jobs as the main factor of stress is in twenty five percent, and what is more alarming is, seventy five percent of those who are employed today believes that job-stress nowadays is rampant compared to previous generation. And a disturbing thirty percent of those who are employed today is believed to be under high level of stress.

Workplace stress is a physiological and emotional state resulting from a reaction to various factors. Stress in the workplace usually stems from the employees capacity and needs, not matching with the job demands. This is oftentimes due to the immense workloads, which is sometimes accompanied by high expectations, which the employee cannot cope up with.

The effects of stress are very vivid that may result to various health and unwanted psychological disorders. Depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder are the most common mental disorders that relates to stress. Work place had been traced as a factor which origin biological reactions which eventually leads to different health complications and there are worst cases which can cause job related stress as factor leading to death.

Work related stress, complications and worst effects to one’s health is very obvious nowadays. There are certain studies and research that showed a very alarming data, the possibility of stoke for Japanese men had been said to be doubled if they are suffering stress form their jobs. Stress caused by mentally demanding jobs may affect the cardiovascular system which may lead to hypertension. Some research found that job stress can be a contributing factor to the risk of having cardiovascular disease.

It is a supported fact that stress causes much turnover in companies. Companies with hostile work environments create stress for the discriminated employees. Downsizing companies also contribute in stress for the remaining employees. Terminating people leads to increased workload for the remaining ones. Some employees even choose to leave before they get fired.
