Gay Vacation Deals To Ireland

Written by Howie Holben on Mar 11th, 2010 | Filed under: Spirituality

Ireland has been good for gay vacations at least since the time of Oscar Wilde, although in those days it was not necessarily a friendly country for the LGBT community. Like Wilde, many people were jailed or sent away for hard labor for what was legally termed “indecency” and, until 1861, acts of sodomy were even punishable by death, but Ireland has come a long way since these dark days, decriminalizing same-sex sexual behavior in 1993 and legalizing civil unions in 2009.

While this does not mean that this largely Catholic country is ready to embrace same-sex relationships in every village – or even every city – Ireland is now far more welcoming and can safely be considered a great place for gay travel. Several larger cities, including Dublin, Galway, Cork and Waterford, have visible, active communities, community celebrations, numerous establishments catering or welcoming to the community and plenty of attractions to fill an entire vacation; however, whether travelers choose to participate in solo travel or gay tours, one should not miss the Irish countryside and quaint, traditional villages that dot the verdant landscape or sit atop breathtaking coastal cliffs during their vacation to Ireland as well.

Although many cities in Ireland now have community hangouts, organizations, annual community celebrations and an active LGBT community, Dublin reigns supreme as the center of Ireland’s LGBT scene, making it a must-do for anyone planning gay travel here. Dublin’s nightlife is a blend of both casual pubs and high-class clubs – some even with dress codes – which offers folks on gay vacations the opportunity to experience vastly different aspects of the local community. Dublin is also well known for a variety of community festivals held throughout the year, which include the Dublin Gay Theatre Festival in May, Dublin International LGBTQ Pride in June, and the Dublin Lesbian and Gay Film Festival in July.

Other happenings throughout the year are listed in Ireland’s most popular community magazine, GCN, so those who want to experience the scene during Dublin gay vacations will want to grab a copy when they get to town. Aside from community activities, there are many attractions you will likely want to visit while in Dublin, including the Oscar Wilde House Museum, the Hugh Lane Gallery, the Old Jameson Distillery, the Guinness Storehouse, the Book of Kells and The George, which is Dublin’s most famous LGBT bar.

Those planning gay travel tours may want to consider participating in a group gay tour. This is a great way to make sure you are able to enjoy many of the most intriguing natural, cultural and historical attractions this romantic country has to offer.

How To Stay In Shape When Eating Out

Written by Katherine Crawford, M.S. on Mar 11th, 2010 | Filed under: Motivation

Eating mounds of food seems to be part of our culture. And a lot of this food is consumed at restaurants because of time famine. Now, if you decide to not eat out, your social life might take a major turn for the worse.

The good news is that you don’t have to take such drastic measures.

So without further delay, here are 5 tips for losing weight when eating at restaurants:

1. Have some olive oil: Research studies have shown that consuming olive oil during a meal leads to less calories consumed. So get a salad with some olive oil and vinegar. Even better, olive oil is a strong anti inflammatory.

2. Be suspicious of the sauces: Many times there is little if any information about the sauces that come with a dish. And it’s usually the sauces that pack the caloric punch. So even if you think a meal is healthy, the sauce may make it extremely unhealthy.

3. Load up on carbonated drinks: Drinking calorie-free carbonated drinks before your food arrives is a great way to feel fuller before beginning to eat. You see, mechanoreceptors in your stomach respond to volume. So increasing volume without food is a great way to eat less food.

4. Have soup: Soup is very filling because it has so much water. So if you order a healthy soup, you will feel full with minimal caloric load. Even better, order the soup with extra vegetables for maximum impact.

5. Be careful with side dishes: Although small, side dishes can have more calories than your main course. So make sure you stay away from them and focus on your main meal. Doing so will help you keep track of how much you have eaten.

You can stay in shape or even get in better shape when eating out. The key here is to make smart decisions that prevent the caloric load. Doing so will let you have a vibrant social life while not feeling like a prisoner.

The Facts About Psychiatry Jobs, How Long It Takes To Be Educated And The Dedication Required

Written by Adriana Noton on Mar 9th, 2010 | Filed under: Uncategorized

The field of mental health requires more than degrees. This field requires the desire to get to the root of a problem preventing a client from living life to the fullest. It takes dedication, commitment and an open mind. Though psychiatry jobs and psychology jobs can be in the same field, there is a difference between the two degrees.

They both treat mental health issues that range from substance abuse with mental health issues to forensic and mental health related fields. A psychologist earning a PhD or a PsyD D is also considered a doctor; however, a psychiatrist has a medical degree. A psychiatrist may lean more towards viewing the problem as a medical issue where a psychologist may view the problem as a social one. They both can have the same view on a situation; it all depends on the practitioner. Both have the option of specializing in one of many fields.

When children are the primary clients, they are referred to as child psychologist or child psychiatrist. They have taken courses designed for the treatment of children as well as the families involved in a Childs life. This is a very important and popular choice among many; however, it is important to note that it is not only the child you will deal with. Those choosing this field have to be able to handle many situations that involve family members that may or may not have been a positive influence in the Childs life.

Specializing in sports psychology requires the ability to help clients involved in various sports. Situations may include them having difficulties in controlling their temper during an event or they become overwhelmed with pressure to always play well, the issues could widely vary.

Criminal or forensic specializations differ in the capacity to which the clinician is called upon. A criminal specialization is when the psychiatrist purpose is to analyze the specific behavior produced by an individual. They will attempt to get to the basic root of what influenced the behavior. Those working in forensics are more interested in helping to solve a case such as determining if a suspect claiming to be mental ill at the time of the crime, truly was acting out of brief or predisposing mental illness. They are often called upon as expert witnesses in court to give professional opinion as testimony.

To become psychiatrists there is a tremendous amount of ongoing education. After completing their bachelors degree in science and another four years of medical school, they must then complete an internship and a residency program. They must also take board examinations and pass to become licensed. Throughout their career they will take numerous required credit classes or renewal type course, they are required to have so many per year.

They are medical doctors which mean they are entitled to prescribe medications. A psychologist, even with a doctorate degree cannot prescribe medications. Contrary to popular belief a psychiatrist will not generally write a prescription and send the patient away. They are still concerned with treating the problem for which the patient may need medications. As a general psychiatrist they will usually treat patients of all ages for a variety of mental illnesses.

To get psychiatry jobs is not a simple process. It takes many years of dedication from these men and women. They have gone through medical school along side of a family physician; they simply chose to specialize in the minds, brains and mental health of their patients as opposed to specializing in bones, surgery or family practice.
