Manage Your Child’s Anger

Written by Esther Tan on Mar 14th, 2010 | Filed under: Motivation

Children are at a disadvantage when it comes to anger because they are still at a stage where they are starting to learn and understand things. This enables them to express their feelings and emotion properly, resulting to shouting, fights, and tantrums whenever they feel that they are taken advantaged, wronged, ignored, or threatened.

Parents or guardians should be responsible enough in providing them the proper guidance, set themselves as a role model for children and act properly in dealing with problems. To help you further, there are many anger management techniques that are available for you to use. There are self-help methods and there are also expert-help methods.

Of course, there’s no assurance that it will really be effective for children since it may be complicated for them to perform or they may not be interested doing it. But there’s one method that I guess you might want to consider. This method is called the anger art therapy. Art is not only used for past time or as a hobby but it is also used by mental health experts in dealing with psychological problems such as anger, anxiety, depression, and stress.

Aside from entertaining enough, art therapy can be a good anger management method for kids because it gives them a sense of connection and control over their emotions. There’s no need for your child to be very good in the art that he/she has chosen. The important thing is that they will be able to express out what they feel and channel it into more constructive ends.

As time goes by, your child will realize that anger can be channeled constructively not only in art, but also in many other ways like achievements, interactions, and arguments. The only thing that you should keep in mind is that, art therapy is not just something like your usual playing method, but rather, it should be started with the help of an expert. This kind of therapy involves strategies and methods that help your child understand and realize how it works. The therapy may last from a few weeks up to a few moths depending on your child’s condition. The therapy may be stopped if your child’s health care expert observes that there are already conclusive results.

Choosing this therapy may of course make you spend a bit, but looking at the advantages that your child can benefit, it will be worth every penny that you’ll spend. So, if you think that your child is having problems dealing with his/her anger, it should not be taken for granted and immediate help should be sought and done in order to avoid further problems that may arise in the future.

Turn Your Life Crisis into Lasting Happiness !

Written by Peter Shaw on Mar 13th, 2010 | Filed under: Motivation

There are many different watersheds in life.

There are many possible such moments of crisis – from retirement to bereavement, from divorce to a severe health breakdown, from bankruptcy to dismissal. There are many others, and they can affect all of us at some time or another in our lives. In my case, I have suffered through two divorces, two bereavements, a major business crash, and a serious attempted suicide. The effects can be serious and long-lasting.

Naturally, we all see the dark side of any life crisis, be it a bereavement, a divorce, losing your job, or whatever. But if you are able to step back a little, look hard at your life, consider your strengths and your weaknesses, you may very well be able to make changes to your life which will result in that elusive state, true happiness and contentment. You may have just lost a well paid job as a finance director, for instance. But you know, deep inside, that you would be much happier doing something else, something quite different – let’s say running a flower nursery. Definitions of tue happiness abound on the internet:

-Happiness comes down to the difference between commitment and attachment -Happiness is social relationships -Happiness is individualistic, varying from one person to another -Happiness is a recipe that includes a number of ingredients -Happiness and unhappiness are two sides of the same coin -Happiness is the highest good -Happiness is about having each tiny wish come true -Happiness is delivered through focussing on the key areas of your life -Happiness is connected with diet and exercise -Happiness is not something that happens to you. It is inside you now -Happiness is the most important and the ultimate objective in life -Happiness is a set of skills you must learn

You really do have to do a careful self analysis.

One of the best-selling books of recent times was written by Dr Tal David Ben-Shahar and is entitled “Happiness 101″. With its associated television programmes and dvd’s, it derives from a course taught by Dr Ben-Shahar to students at Harvard University. In the course, Dr Ben-Shahar describes experiences as being pleasureable or meaningful or both, and it is the overlap of the two which brings happiness. He teaches goal-oriented Harvard students to learn that happiness is the ultimate currency, not wealth or success. They should focus on the journey, enjoying each little thing along the way, rather than concentrating on the goal.

If you think about it, this makes perfect sense. But how many of us actually practice it ? Google Happiness 101 with Tal Ben-Shahar.

Positive Psychology is a new branch of science developed inter alia by Dr Martin Seligman of the University of Pennsylvania. His thrust is to move psychology away from the study of mental illness, pathology and victimology to positive emotion, virtue and strength, and positive institutions.

Genes or luck do not in themselves create happiness. We can cultivate happiness, however, by identifying and developing many of the strengths and traits we already possess. Dr Seligman terms these “signature strengths”, and declares these can be nutured and developed into natural buffers against the misfortunes and negative emotions we all suffer, resulting in marked improvements in our relationships, careers, and health. This is why a life crisis is such a good moment to examine ourselves in order to identify our “signature strengths”.

Dr Seligman has devised a “Signature Strengths Survey” to assist with this process.

If you want to increase the profitability of your business, there are many different tactics you can use. One of the best ways to increase the popularity of your products or services is through the use of a powerful business strategy built around publicity, business promotion, branding and marketing. When you can create publicity around your company, you are instantly increasing the reach of your products. By increasing the reach of your company, you are increasing the size of the customer base that buys products from your company. As you do this, you can greatly increase the profits that your company can earn every single day.

When a company desires to increase their popularity, there are many different techniques that can be used. One of the most popular ways to increase a company’s publicity is through a press release. This form of marketing is very popular, because when you issue a press release, you increase the chances that a media company will pick up on the story you have created. So, use press releases on a regular basis to create a history of media exposure that you can build on.

If you create a valuable press release from the point of view of major media companies, they will make a note of the news that you have presented to them. This news will often be reported by one news agency at least. As one agency picks up on the story, other agencies may realize there is something of value in the story, and this can lead to multiple media companies releasing your story to the public.

There are many ways that you can greatly increase the awareness of your brand through the use of publicity though. Another great way to take advantage of media outlets in order to increase the general awareness of your company is by becoming, or having an employee become, a writer for a local media company.

Publications are often eager to acquire the assistance of knowledgeable individuals for the creation of their offerings. When you or a professional from your company add information to a publication, this increases the interest generated around your company, because your company will likely be listed alongside the authors name within the publication.

There are many approaches that you can take if you wish to expand the popularity of your company and brand through the use of publicity. You can access publicity less expensively if you do the work yourself or within your company. When you don’t have to spend that much time on the publicity that you create, you can be sure that you may have more funds to create many different publicity campaigns. The more publicity campaigns you create, the more popular and well known your company will become in the long run.
